Note: This is the third of three assignments which, as a whole, will cover all aspects of the project life cycle relevant to your selected project. Now, it is time for you to discuss your project’s challenges (e.g., risks); performance management plan (e.g., earned value management); and proposed plan for closing the project when it is done.Write a four to six page paper, in which you define the execution, control, and closure aspects of your chosen project. In your paper you must:Provide a brief summary of your chosen project.Identify and discuss your project’s greatest challenges (at least three) and provide a recommendation for addressing each of the challenges.Examine how you manage your project performance via earned value management. Identify at least three key EVM metrics you will use for your project.Discuss your plan to properly close your project when it is over.Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are: Develop a process for measuring the progress of a project, providing oversight, coordinating project closure, and determining project effectiveness.

PROJECT PROPOSAL: INITIATING & PLANNING
2
Project Proposal
The proposed project involves building an e-commerce software for retail companies.
The e-commerce software will help e-commerce companies to offer their products through an
online platform. Through the use of e-commerce software, the company will list all the products
it sells. The e-commerce software will allow customers to select the products of their interests
and order them. It is important to have goals while undertaking the project. The goals indicate
the direction that the project will follow and what will be achieved at the end. Antolić, (2008)
argues that an individual must develop measurable and achievable goals. Some of the goals of
the e-commerce software are as follows.
The first goal is usability. The e-commerce software is intended to be simple to use.
According to Bassil, (2012), e-commerce software should be very easy for four customers to use.
The software will allow the customers to view the products that the company sells, select, and
purchase them. For electronic commerce, the customers want needs the website that will be easy
to interact with and able to view the fine details of the products that are sold in terms of the size,
price, and amount. The second goal is functionality. The project will meet the functional
requirements. The e-commerce software will help the business sell its products to its target
customers. The third goal of the software is efficiency. The software will work perfectly as it is
intended.
Some of the objectives of the e-commerce software are as follows. First, e-commerce
software projects will improve customers’ experience. They will easily and quickly access what
they want from the business. Secondly, the software is intended to manage customers and orders.
Thirdly, it is intended to simplify marketing. The software intended to increase company sales
within one year. On the other hand, the key customers for the project will be the supermarkets.

Ideally, the supermarket offers a variety of products to its customers, which makes them qualify
for electronic commerce. Secondly, it will target retail stores. Key stakeholders include, the
business owners, and customers.
The project will be marked with various key milestones. The first milestone will be the
initiation stage. This phase will involve id edifying an opportunity in the business. To verify the
viability of the opportunity, the data will be collected. Both qualitative and quantitative data will
be collected. This ensures than the customers’ requirements are well captured to avoid software
requirement-based errors. The second milestone will be planning.
In this milestone, the work
will be divided among different IT professionals. Also, the resources needed in the project will
be identified. Also, the cost of making software will be identified. The third phase will be the
implementation of the project. In case the project will be executed. At this stage, the
collaboration and communication with other team members will be crucial. The customers will
be regularly contacted to make sure that the project complements the customers’ needs. The last
phase will be closing. At this phase, the software will be delivered to the customers. The
maintenance will be undertaken to ensure that all bugs are eliminated.
The project will be undertaken for a period of four months. The first month will
incorporate the initiation phase. At this phase, the relevant data will be collected. All the
relevant research will be conducted to ensure that all feature of the e-commerce software is
integrated into the software. The second month will involve planning. In this time, the prototype
of the software will be developed. Also, it will involve assigning the responsibilities of each
team member. All resources needed to complete the project will be identified. In the third month,
the software will be programmed to meet the customers’ requirements. The time and the budget

will be considered at this phase. The project testing will be carried out in the last month. This
period, any bugs will be identified and corrected.
Some of the costs that will be incurred in the projects include the following. Some of the
key resources that will be needed in the project include funds, human resources, time, and
hardware to test software. In order to attain the success of the software development project, the
project manager will be needed to supervise the project (Kwak & Stoddard, 2004). The project
manager will assign various tasks to the team members. The technical lead will be responsible
for translating the requirements of the customers to a solution. The technical developers will be
involved in creating the deliverables and communicating with the technical lead. Moreover, the
software testers will be allowed to test the software developed and detect any bugs in the
software.
