Thank You very much! ========================================================== My Post Lenick Bermudez Beltran RE: Discussion – Week 3 COLLAPSE Interactions among Nurses and Specialists In the profession of healthcare, there is varying field represented by nurses and other types of specialists that carry out their duties and practices relevant to their field. Nurses are essential to the care of patients while quality is practiced thoroughly and upheld to meet the patient’s needs (Darvish, Bahramnezhad, Keyhanian, & Navidhamidi, 2014). The nurse has many duties that involve caring for the patient must be efficient, they must knowledgeable in computer skills and with other advanced technologies that are used in the healthcare setting. Having such knowledge allows the nurse to identify, collect, report, and organization the information of the patient regarding their past and current health challenges as well as medication dispensing, and procedures done on the patient. The nurse educator will use advanced technology resources to educate the nurse when it comes to them having to understand how to operate such functions and tools as well as instructing them to learn new processes (McGonigle et al., 2001). The administrative nurse is the one who will be managing the resources in the most efficient manner. The nursing informatics are useful because they are the ones who can better manage the patients and hospital accounts to ensure efficient measures are conducted as well as the privacy mechanisms concerning the data are adhered to. When it concerns informatics competency, this allows for nurses to utilize technology to communicate, manage, mitigate errors, and support decision-making at the point of care (Glassman, 2017). Understanding the essential mechanisms of healthcare information and technology is vital to the understanding of the safety of patients. Being a manager in the organization that I have worked for over 12 years now, has allowed me the opportunity of experiencing various types of tools and technology. This technology has enabled me and others on the team to improve safety measures for patients as well as improve on a patient-centered system. One concept I feel that could be improved on is how nurses are educated when it comes to technology practices. There need to be more educational practices engaging nurses to not only better themselves concerning their duties and responsibilities of patients, but to also ensure that quality measures are met to meet the goals of a positive outcome. The compliance of some of the education programs offered to nurses isn’t compliant with the hospital’s policies. As a suggestion, educating nurses in both group settings and taking a one-on-one approach would be an efficient method of achieving the goals the organization has set. Ensuring that the education programs are complying with the hospital’s policies will also be beneficial because decreased mistakes would occur concerning medication dispensing, charting errors, and new equipment errors that otherwise could be avoided. Advanced technology without a doubt, has offered nurses and other professionals in the healthcare field powerful tools allowing them to have access and understanding of informatics as they develop personally and professionally in the field.
