Assignment Overview
Technology is drastically changing the accounting industry…and data visualization and analysis
tools such as Tableau is one of the technologies that students should know (AICPA 2019). The
exercises below are designed to introduce you to Tableau. Tableau is a powerful data analytics
and visualization tool and I encourage you to take/create opportunities to build on this
foundation.
This is an individual assignment to be completed on your computer (PC or Mac). You are
allowed to discuss the assignment with others in the class, but you may not copy. You will have
class time to work on the assignment and ask me questions, but you can also work on the
assignment outside of class. You may also email me specific questions. To complete these
exercises, you should consult Chapter 9 of the textbook, help (F1) within Tableau, and online
training videos such as https://www.tableau.com/learn/training#getting‐started. Note that the
practice data for the example in the Chapter 9 reading is available on Blackboard.
